Brothers by motherhood
Genre: Drama
Director: Zdravko Sotra
Short description:
Provoked, Veselin murders his school mate on their senior prom. In prison,
he receives a letter from his half-brother, political emigrant
from Austria. Correspondence starts and his half-brother tells him about
the Dalmatian mountain area in late thirties, when he was born
from marriage between Serbian mother and Croat father, who joined Ustashas
and died in 1941. After the war, their mother marries a Partisan
fighter from their village, and Veselin was born, while he is still
marked as Ustasha's son. He runs across the border and joins the
Ustasha's movement in Austria. Through this contacts, their relationship
evolves: from mistrust between two members of two different
worlds and systems, to that what binds them together: they are brothers
by their motherhood, and guilty, each in his own way.
